Dr. Ebony Michelle Collins, was born on a cold, winter day in December in (Augusta, Georgia), “Home of the Masters”. She was the only child for about the first 10 years of her life. She has one sister, who is 10 years younger than her. She graduated high school and pursued a college degree. She graduated with a bachelors in Sociology and a minor and certification in Grant Proposal Writing. Dr. Ebony Michelle is a Servant for CHRIST and has a passion and a gift to advocate for foster children and women. Her mission for CHRIST is to spread the “Good News “ where ever she goes globally.
Despite suddenly her sight being altered physically in 2022, she turned all of her focus on becoming an activist for abandoned children and their needs. She is a passionate advocate for children in foster care, an activist in the fight against child hunger in foster care and also helping women find their focus in life. This experience instilled in her a profound series of empathy, deep compassion, and commitment to help ensure that all foster children and women have a listening ear. Dr. Ebony Michelle will shout to the rooftops how saving foster children from abandonment and hunger in the community and being there to stand in the gap exuberates her spirit.
After becoming a foster parent, Dr. Ebony Michelle quickly became known for her innovative and effective approach to supporting children in foster care who suffered from disabilities by being a liaison between state and family. She has pursued a certification in Chrisitan Counseling and has been honored with an Honorary Doctorate in Christian Humane Letters from her beloved Seminary. Dr. Ebony Michelle is also a grand honoree of the 2023 Joseph R. Biden Jr. Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award.
Over the years, Dr. Ebony Michelle has been involved in numerous initiatives to improve the lives of foster children, from opening her homes to sibling groups, providing many opportunities for the growth of children in foster care, and just being a haven for foster children with learning challenges. The core root of Dr. Ebony Michelle’s passion for foster children and women is compassion for their well-being and being that vessel that advocates for them. As well as working directly with foster agencies to help them overcome trauma and better transition. She is walking out her driven purpose; it’s just the beginning of a lifetime of dedication to the community. Dr. Ebony Michelle is allowing GOD to heal her focus in life.
