Dr. Ebony Michelle Collins, PhD, born and raised in Augusta, Georgia, "Home of the Masters". She embodies the Quintessence of Purpose in government, advocacy, and ministry.; while walking in divine assignment with leadership, wisdom, and unwavering faith. As a government agent overseeing millions in state revenue, she has spent over 15 years ensuring financial accountability while also fighting for real change. But her work doesn’t stop at procedures and numbers; her heart is in her advocacy for the low-vision and visually impaired community, and she’s pushing for change locally and globally.
In 2022, Dr. Ebony Michelle’s world shifted when she experienced a sudden change in her vision. Instead of letting it hold her back, she turned it into a purpose. She now dedicates her time to pushing for policies, research, and resources that uplift and support those living with vision impairments. She’s on a mission to highlight the struggles that often go unnoticed and bring real solutions to the table.
With a background in sociology, certifications in grant proposal writing and evaluation, and Christian counseling, she blends faith, strategy, and advocacy to make things happen. She’s in the process of launching a nonprofit aimed at helping individuals with low vision and those who are visually impaired, who don’t qualify for disability benefits. The goal? To provide financial, medical, and everyday living support so they don’t fall through the cracks. And it’s not just a local effort; her vision extends to underserved communities in Africa, who are vision impaired, where she plans to connect with people in different capacities who also support the cause of vision impairment.
Her work hasn’t gone unnoticed. She is a recipient of the 2023 Joseph R. Biden Jr. Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award and was honored in the 2024 Marquis Who’s Who in America. She also earned an Honorary Doctorate in Christian Humane Letters in 2023 and a Ph.D. in Christian Counseling in 2024 from her beloved seminary, solidifying her commitment to faith-based service and advocacy. She’s also an international best-selling author, a Kingdom Builder for CHRIST, and a leader who doesn’t just talk about change; she lives for change.
Dr. Ebony Michelle believes vision loss should never mean opportunity loss, and she’s committed to ensuring that people with low vision and visual impairments have the support they need to thrive. Whether she’s in the hallways of government facilities, coaching individuals, or building bridges across ministries, one thing is certain: this is just her beginning. GOD HEALED HER FOCUS
